Family Safety is Scary

Writing for The Secure Dad can be challenging. I know that not everyone that follows TSD on social media or subscribes to this newsletter always wants to read what I’ve written. That’s because family safety is a scary subject for lots of people.

No one really wants to spend their time thinking about what’s wrong with the world or that some disaster is right around the corner. I get that.

I think all parents need to realize that just by thinking about how to save your family from a house fire doesn’t mean that you’re going to set it ablaze. It’s not morbid to think about what to do when you smell smoke. It’s careless not to think about a fire escape plan until you’re on fire. We can’t protect or families effectively if we are not prepared.

Benjamin Franklin said it best: “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”

This week’s article talks about embracing this change and how you can begin to prepare yourself to act in your family’s best interests. Don’t spend your life in a bubble where everything is sunshine and rainbows. Our world is a beautiful place, but it can be scary sometimes. Stand ready to defend your loved ones.

Be Safe. Be Secure.
